Redecorating & Updating

On January 15, 2010, in Random, by Layne

Every once in a while I like to change things up.  So you will see a new look to the website.  Sometimes new things work, sometimes they don’t.  But, nothing ventured, nothing gained. So I’ve put in a new look to the website.  I hope that cup of coffee perks you up as much as it does me.

Also, I updated my comment manager and have not been able to figure out how to transfer all the fabulous comments that were received on the prior posts.  I hope to figure out how to get them transferred, but the priority was to get better control over garbage and spam comments.  I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any suggestions, if you find the layout to be less user friendly or any other bothersome quirks it may give you.  Only your suggestions will help me to improve the look, feel, and layout so you can enjoy your time here with me.

I appreciate you coming by, don’t forget to say “Hi,” and I look forward to our future conversations here.

    Couple of things…
    1) Where is the login? Only allows me as guest.
    2) I'm always having an issues trying to keep my thumbdrive synced to my PC; so am trying “SyncToy” from Microsoft – any tips on this or other ways to sync thumbdrves?

    Hi Dave,
Yes, never enough is there? I also love the whole chocolate color. Thanks for telling me what you think.

Regarding Question 1), I wasn't able to see how it comes up since it automatically signs me in. However, you have four choices to login. You can login with your Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, and Disqus. The comment plugin doesn't capture anything as you login through your site. So I'm testing your question by responding to this from Twitter. Curious to see what happens.

Question 2). Thumb drives are a process. For me I just click and drag what information I want from directory to directory, as your thumb drive will come up as a directory on your computer. I also use wrote an article about having access to certain documents online so I have access to them wherever I go and on any computer. So that might be worth considering. You can read about that at http://www.mykta.com/with-my-head-in-the-clouds/

Hi Dave – I haven't done it for a while with newer Windows systems, but there used to be a thing you could create called a Briefcase.

You create it on the USB stick I think using the same process as for creating a new folder (I right click and hit “new” and get “briefcase” as an option). I think then if you drag files from your hard drive into the briefcase on the USB, you can edit either version (the one in the briefcase or the original), and when you plug to USB in you can hit the update button on the menu and it will update both to be the same.

I'd say it will have trouble if you happen to modify both the original file and the one in the briefcase, but so long as only one gets updated, then they should sync no problems.
    Cheers,
    Jamie Ross
